“The challenges facing Burlington are not unique to our community and they will not be solved through a reliance on arrest and incarceration. Our criminal legal system is not equipped to address the social causes of homelessness, substance use disorder, and mental health challenges. Burlington needs a mayor who will lead from a place of compassion, and bring the community together to implement evidence-based solutions. I am confident that Emma will be that Mayor, and I look forward to being a partner in this work.”
